Minimum candidates file, most elections to be cancelled

Most city council and school board seats that were to be voted upon in the May election saw the minimum number of candidates file, meaning that most of these elections will be canceled.

In the city of Daingerfield, three seats were to be on the ballot: Mayor Lou Irvin and council members Lonnie Tucker and Martha Campbell. Irvin and Campbell both filed for re-election to their seats. Jessie Ayers filed for the seat vacated by Tucker.
