Lady Mustangs advance after dismantling Cooper, 17-0

The Hughes Springs Lady Mustangs started the playoff season off right on April 27 with a resounding 17-0 win against The Cooper Lady Dogettes. The Lady Mustangs started things off with three runs in the first inning and never looked back, scoring in every inning except the fifth inning which proved to be the last inning.
Senior Peyton Blythe started things off for the Lady Mustangs in the first inning, singling past the third baseman. She then proceeded to steal second base, putting herself into scoring position before senior Kennedi Northam walked. Both runners advanced a base on a wild pitch. Blythe then scored on another wild pitch making the score 1-0. Shebli Fickling and came up to bat after Haylee Wilson drew a walk and grounded out to the pitcher, but Northam to score. Abby McKinney then singled past the shortstop but Wilson held up at third and the score remained 2-0. Marisol Kennedy was next up and Wilson scoreed on her ground out to the shortstop making the score 3-0 after a half inning of play. The scoring continued for the Lady Mustangs, as they scoring six runs in the second, two in the third and another six runs in the fourth inning.
