Election Day has come and gone for non-partisan entities such as school boards and city council. The only such elections that were held in The Steel Country Bee area on May 5 were for Lone Star City Alderman and Hughes Springs City Council. Other races saw unopposed candidates declared the winners after the elections were cancelled. These races included Daingerfield-Lone Star School Board, Daingerfield City Council, and Northeast Texas Community College Board of Trustees.
In the race for Hughes Springs ISD School Board, Bill Lindsey ran unopposed for another term in the Place 4 seat. Vying for the Place 5 seat were Scott Nelson and Rick Colegrove. After early voting, Nelson held an 81-38 advantage over Colegrove. By the end of Election Day, Nelson had received another 24 votes, giving him 105 votes to Colegrove’s final tally of 59.
