Blythe named Most Valuable Player by Longview News-Journal

Every year, the Longview News-Journal announces their own All-Star teams, filled with stars from East Texas. This year’s All-East Texas Softball team is filled with members of 3A State Runner-Up Hughes Springs.

Former Hughes Springs Mustang Peyton Blythe was named Most Valuable Player. Blythe, who will be attending Texas Tech in the fall, played a huge role in the Lady Mustangs run through the play offs. Blythe finished the season with a .538 average, a .656 on base percentage, and 1.011 slugging percentage. During the season, Blythe knocked 11 home runs, six doubles, and three triples while notching 40 runs batted in and 60 runs scored. Blythe, who started playing softball when she was 5, also swiped 63 bases on 65 attempts.
