A public hearing was held for the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) report for Daingerfield-Lone Star Independent School District at the board’s Oct. 21 meeting.
Business Manager Lisa White gave the presentation to the board.
“The system consists of 20 indicators which, when applied to the district’s financial management system, awards a rating to the district,” Mrs. White said. “These 20 indicators make it possible for Daingerfield to receive a “superior achievement” rating for the school year 2011-12. The report indicates an improvement from the 2010-11 status of ‘above standard achievement.”
The passing score is 52 and the district scored 65.
“On some of the indicators listed, such as the first six indicators, we were able to answer ‘yes’ to all of them,” Mrs. White said. “We are very pleased with this rating.”
Ted Estep, architect for the school bond, addressed the board, giving an update on the construction at the junior high school and the high school. The construction is covered under a $5.4 million bond that is a Qualified School Construction Bond that voters approved at the polls last year.
