Martin
Services for James Allen Martin, 88, of Tullahoma, Tenn., were held Oct. 29, at Kilgore Funeral Home in Tullahoma.
Mr. Martin was born Dec. 19, 1924, and died Oct. 27, in Tullahoma.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Martha Louise Martin; and his parents, James Alfred Martin and Estelle Camp Martin.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Ron Willis of Madison, Ala.; and his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Lynne Martin of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; five grandchildren and their families, Christopher Willis of Apex, N.C., Dr. Jennifer Willis Ball and her husband, Dr. Travis Ball of Madison, Ala., Wesley Martin and his wife, Jennifer Martin of Murfreesboro, Ashley Martin Harris and her husband, Martin of High Point, N.C., and Alex Martin of Murfreesboro; four great-grandchildren, Shelby Ann Ball and Katelyn Michele Ball of Madison, Ala., Kingston Harris of High Point, N.C., and Hannah Martin of Murfreesboro.
Mr. Martin served in the Provost Marshall’s Office at Camp Wolters from 1944 to 1945. After separation from the US Army in 1945, Mr. Martin and his wife, Martha lived in Daingerfield, and later in Fort Worth where he worked on projects such as the US Air Force F-111 fighter as a design engineer for General Dynamics Corporation. Mr. Martin moved to Tullahoma in 1964 to become a section supervisor in the Central Machine Shops Branch at Arnold Engineering Development Center. He had advanced to director of all machine shop operations prior to his retirement in 1987. Mr. Martin was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Tullahoma where he donated countless hours toward maintaining and improving the church facility. He was a member of Oasis Masonic Lodge Number 79.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Tullahoma. The Martin family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Life Care Center of Tullahoma and Hospice Compassus for the compassionate care they provided Mr. Martin during this difficult time.
