Reeder-Davis Funeral Home adds facility in Ore City

This year Kris Brock, owner of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, added a third facility in Ore City to the facilities that are in Hughes Springs and Linden.
“The new building was the former hardware store on Highway 259 in Ore City,” Mr. Brock said. “I purchased the building from the Ore City Independent School District. They had originally bought the building to home their central office in. However, after they purchased it, a new school board was elected, and they did not want a central office off of the campus. I learned about the building and since Reeder-Davis Funeral Home has always served Upshur County and the surrounding area, decided to look into this purchase. After extensive remodeling inside and out, we opened for business early in the fall.”
The new funeral home’s initial plans were developed by J. Stuart Todd Architects of Dallas.  The interior is very warm, with a home-like feel.  The new funeral home also offers a state of the art fellowship hall/kitchen, which has been a great addition.  Families can enjoy catered meals during receptions after or before a service, and/or during visitation. The funeral chapel is the largest in the area, seating more than 200.  It can accommodate the largest of gatherings, or those of a more intimate request.
The new location is handier for people in Upshur, Camp, Harrison and Marion counties, and also for people in the Lake O’ the Pines area.
“We are excited to be in this area serving the people,” Mr. Brock said. “We offer what we always have stood for, the tradition of treating clients as family members, as we serve everyone with the care and dignity founded by Bro. Jimmy Reeder in 1908.
