First Day Hike
Get a jumpstart on your New Year’s resolution by getting in touch with nature. Put on sturdy shoes, bring your water bottle and grab a hiking buddy for a ranger-led two-mile trail hike around the lake at the Daingerfield State Park from 2 to 3 p.m. on Jan. 1. Gifted and Talented
Hughes Springs Independent School District will begin the Gifted and Talented Identification process for students K-eighth grade.  Parents will have the opportunity to nominate their child to be considered for screening and testing to determine whether or not he/she qualifies for gifted and talented services.  The nomination phase will be through Dec. 20 and the screening phase will be from Jan. 6 through Feb. 14. New Library Hours
New hours for the Daingerfield Public Library start Jan. 6. The library will be open Mondays from 1 to 6 p.m.; Tuesdays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m.; and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Baseball Association
Hughes Springs Baseball Association will be having a board meeting Jan. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Wildflower Inn. For any questions call Paul at 903-918-4026.
