The Mustangs and Lady Mustangs were in action against Queen City and Paul Pewitt last week as the teams combined to go 1-3.
To begin last week, the Mustangs took on the Bulldogs from Queen City.  In a game that was close for three periods, the Mustangs pulled away in the fourth and won the contest 59-43. Dusty Cooper had the hot hand for the Mustangs, draining six threes and had 24 points to lead all Mustang scorers.  Austin King had 13 points and Michael Harris had eight points.
Last Friday, the Mustangs took on the Brahmas from Paul Pewitt and came out on the losing end of the contest, 65-57.
Leading scorers for the Mustangs were Austin King, who poured in 13 points, Hayden Smith contributed 12 points, and high point man for the game was Michael Harris with 17 points.
The Mustangs were only down by two at the break but a strong third period from the Brahmas allowed them to pull away. A strong fourth quarter for the Mustangs closed the gap, just not enough to come out on top.
With the loss on Friday, the Mustangs dropped to 3-6 in district play.
On Tuesday the 21st, the ladies hit the hardwood to face the Lady Bulldogs from Queen City.  The contest was close in the first half of play, but the lady bulldogs pulled away and closed out the contest by beating the Lady Mustangs by a score of 62-54.
Leading the scoring for the Lady Mustangs was Breanne Gunn with 15 points while Halie Pippin had 12 points.  Dashe Hatten chipped in 10 poimnts, and Destiny Gonzales had nine points in the loss.
The lady Mustangs closed out the week with a win against the Lady Brahmas from Paul-Pewitt.  Starting off strong,  the ladies were up 15-1 after the first period and controlled the game while pulling away to win 53-36.  Breanne Gunn once again was the stand-out performer, finishing the game with a double-double, 21 points and 17 rebounds.  Rebecca Crossland added 11 points and Dashe Hatten had eight points.
The varsity boys, girls and junior varsity boys will take to the court Friday, and travel to Daingerfield and match-up against the Tigers, with the action starting at 5 p.m.
