Hughes Springs’ Junior High students qualify for State competition

The Hughes Springs Junior High Math Team placed third overall and had three students qualify for State in competition held Ore City on Feb. 22. Jaden Alexander qualified in Science, Cypress Wright qualified in Number Sense, Calculator, General Math, and Science and Calli Stewart qualified in Number Sense, Calculator, General Math, and Science.
In seventh grade, Calli Stewart placed fourth in Number Sense, fourth in Calculator, first in General Math and sixth in Science.
In eighth grade competition, Jaden Alexander placed tenth in Number Sense, 11th in General Math and eighth place in Science; Ben Denny placed 12th in General Math; Hunter Brabham placed 13th in Calculator; Cypress Wright placed second in Number Sense, first in Calculator and second place in General Math; Jose Benavides placed 12th in Number Sense; and Treston Taylor placed 11th in Calculator.
