Mrs. Grant was born in Toledo, Ohio and lived in and around the Chicago, Illinois area. She moved with her family to Pasadena, in 1945, and attended her senior year of high school at Pasadena High. She met Herbert Grant and they married in 1946 and lived in Greens Bayou, until they moved to Avinger in 1954. There they raised three children on 50 acres outside of town. Betty went back to work at Thiokol in Karnack, in 1968 and retired in 1991. She enjoyed retirement with her grandchildren, remained active in her church, collected dolls, and searched out garage sales. She was an avid reader, and a great cook. Betty was also a lover of animals, which she showed through the many stray dogs and cats that she rescued and the birds that she fed. Her generous heart helped and touched many.
