Lady Colts attend area relays

The Hughes Springs Lady Colts attended the New Boston Middle School Lady Lion Relays on Feb 25. The seventh and eighth grade teams were fourth out of 11 teams. Due to rainy weather they did not compete in any field events.
The seventh grade relays were fourth in the 4X100, fifth in the 4X800, and third in the 4X400. The relay teams consisted of Peyton Blythe, Aliyah Crowder, Tamara Jones, Kennedi Northam, Charlie Mae Reeves, Jaley Wallace, Cypress Wright, and Maria Gonzales.
Wright received first place in the 400-meter dash and third in the 800-meter run, Wallace received third in the 300 meter hurdles, Crowder got third in the 100-meter dash, Kirbie Young received sixth in the mile, and Haley Fitzgerald received third in the 2400-meter run.
The eighth grade relay teams got sixth in the 4X100, fourth in the 4X200, and fourth in 4X400. The relay teams consisted of Kali Calcote, Aaron Orrill, Dynasti King, Alexis Dilbeck, D’Asia Purifoy, Courtney Gilmore, and Susan Reynolds. King received second in the 100-meter dash and second in the 200-meter dash, Reynolds received third in the 400 meter dash, Gilmore received sixth in the 400-meter dash, and Brooke Kirkpatrick got third in the 2400. Our seventh grade team ended with 59 total points and the eighth grade 47 total points.
The Colts also competed in the DeKalb Pinkham Relays. The seventh and eighth grade teams were fifth out of 11 teams in both divisions. The seventh grade relays got fifth in the 4X100, fifth in the 4X800, and third in the 4X400.
Those relay teams included of Blythe, Crowder, Jones, Northam, Reeves, Wallace, and Wright. Wright received fifth place in the 400-meter dash and fourth in the high jump, Wallace received second in the 300 meter hurdles and fifth in the high jump, Crowder got second in the 100-meter dash, Blythe received sixth in the long jump and second in the triple jump, Jones received fifth in the triple jump, and Kailey Farmer received fifth in the 100-meter hurdles.
The eighth grade relay teams placed fourth in the 4X100, 5th in the 4X200, and first in 4X400. The relay teams consisted of Calcote, Orrill, King, Dilbeck, Purifoy, Gilmore, and Reynolds. Dynasti King received first in the 100-meter dash, second in the 200 meter dash, and sixth in the high jump, Reynolds received third in the 400-meter dash, Gilmore received fourth in the 400-meter dash, and Kirkpatrick got second in the 2400, Shelby Fann received fourth in the 2400, and Andrea Franklin received fifth in the shot put.
