Zoning was approved as commercial for two pieces of property at the corner of Bunt and Highway 259 by the Lone Star City Council at its special session May 29. The first property is located on the east side of Main Street or Highway 259 on the northeast corner of Highway 259 and Bunt Drive, known as Lots 1,2,3 and 4, Block A of the Bunt Addition. The second property is approximately 1.38 acres located on the east side of Main Street on the northeast corner of Highway 259 and Bunt Drive.

The zoning approval also included a provision for handicapped access along Highway 259 in front of the business, a privacy fence along Bunt Drive and at the rear of the property and no elaborate signage. Approval was given after a public hearing held just before the special session of the council. Chris Biggers from Dunaway Associates spoke regarding the zoning during the public hearing.

“I am an engineer representing this project and working with the broker who currently has the property under contract to purchase,” Mr. Biggers said. “They are working toward a grocery store just under 1,200 feet in size and four gas pumps. The property is not zoned and our request is to zone it for commercial.”
