Services for Lora Lavern Byrd, 80, of Daingerfield will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at First Baptist Church in Cason with Scott Darby officiating. Interment will be in the Clark Cemetery, under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Lora was born on Aug. 6, 1933, to John Harvey and Myrtle Sims, and died June 8.
She was a member of South Union Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Lora was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Byrd, sons, Jason Byrd and Johnny Byrd Jr.
Survivors include her children, Judy Kelly of Garland, Mike Byrd and wife, Nonie of Mesquite, Cathy Dickerson and husband, Dennis of Forney, Steve Byrd and wife, Annette of Quinlan, Gary Byrd and wife, Kathy of Cason, Torri Fleming and husband, Daniel of Forney and Lora Horton and husband, Steve of Forney; two brothers, Willie Bell Sims and wife, Pat of Georgia and Louis Ray Sims and wife, Dell of Tenn.; 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
