Northeast Texas Community College graduation held May 10

Northeast Texas Community College held its May 2014 commencement at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on May 10. Due to the large number of graduates, commencement was held in two ceremonies at 9 and 11 a.m. In the 9 a.m. ceremony, NTCC awarded three associate of arts in teaching degrees, 12 associate of arts degrees, and 106 associate of science degrees. During the second ceremony, 69 associate of applied science degrees and 107 certificates of competency were awarded. Dr. Jonathan McCullough, NTCC Vice President for Advancement, served as commencement speakers for both ceremonies. 
 
Noah Griffin of Pittsburg gave the student response at the 9 a.m. graduation. He is the son of Dr. Steve and Joy Griffin and is the second oldest of eight children. He was homeschooled and he began taking dual credit classes at NTCC in 2011. He was a Presidential Scholar and served as President of the Alpha Mu Chi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa in addition to participating in numerous other student organizations. He plans to transfer to Dallas Baptist University to study Music Business. 
 
Jamie Dulock of Fort Worth gave the student address at the 11 a.m. graduation. She studied Sustainable Agriculture at NTCC and maintained a 4.0 GPA. She plans to use her education as a resource to help others who wish to become good stewards of their land. She also intends to help build sustainable food systems for families in developing countries. She is married to Cody Dulock and is the daughter of Tony and Debbie Whitworth and Darla and Terry Glover.
