The cities of Avinger and Lone Star are not spraying this year due to the fact they no longer have a licensed person to do the spraying. Those licensed have to attend school and pass tests regarding the chemicals and spraying.

Daingerfield has contracted to have their city sprayed, according to City Manager Carl Teel.

“We will start spraying in June,” Mr. Teel said. “We are making arrangements with everyone involved to activate the program. We will start by spraying the entire city at one time and then we divide the city in half and spray every other week. The entire city is covered every two weeks.”

Hughes Springs City Secretary George Fite said the city is taking action to safeguard their residents.
