What goes up must come down, but a powered parachute owner did not expect to come down and land in a tree top. A Lone Star neighborhood near Houston Street was without electricity for over two hours after Bob King of Daingerfield crashed his powered parachute. Mr. King was flying over Lone Star with his mentor Ken Kennedy and apparently Mr. King was flying too low; therefore, causing the powered parachute to land in a tree approximately 50 to 60 feet in the air. Mr. Kennedy was able to return to a field and land his powchute safely.

Morris County Deputy Ken Thomas rode up in a lift and was able to rescue Mr. King from the tree. Mr. King received a scrape on one finger, but was otherwise unharmed.

Lone Star Police Officer Susan Laake, Lone Star Volunteer Fire Department, Champion Medical Emergency Services ambulance and fire fighters from Longview with a ladder truck responded to the scene about 7 p.m. Friday night.
