Edmond lands spot on national award watch list

Daingerfield graduate Steve Edmond is one of four members of the Texas Longhorns football team that has captured a spot on the national awards list. Edmond was placed on the watch list for the 2014 Butkus Award. This award is announced by the Butkus Foundation and honors the top linebacker in the nation. Edmond  also earned a spoton the watch list for the Rotary Lombardi Award as top lineman/linebacker. The Rotary Lombardi Award watch list was announced by the Rotary Club of Houston. 
 
Edmond is on a national award watch list for the first time. He was an honorable mention All- Big 12 selection each of the last two seasons. Edmond was second on the team in tackles (103) in 2012 and fifth (73) last season after missing most of the final three games due to injury. Edmond played on the Daingerfield Tigers football team and participated in the three State wins. 
 
The 6’3” player is solid muscle at 255 pounds and is a senior at the University of Texas at Austin. Sporting the #33, Hookem. com has ranked Edmond as the No. 1 inside linebacker in the nation in the 2011 recruiting class. 
 
His major is in business and his minor is in coaching.
