Daingerfield author releases second book

“The Arithmetic of the Devil” was penned by local artist Clara GriffinKing of Daingerfield.Mrs. King’s book stems from her experiences in life, as does her biography ‘You Can Fly’ written underher pen name of Candice Morgan.
Mrs. King was born in Seminole and was one of 12 siblings. She was separated from them and her biological parents, O.B. and Jewel Griffin, when she was 6 years old through a Child Protective Service Order. She moved to Tennessee Colony with Zelma Malone, who was her first grade teacher and a friend of her mothers. She attended Cayuga High School in Bethel, graduated in 1976 and went to Trinity Valley College for two years, studying cosmetology. Mrs. King and her husband, Duncan King, moved to Daingerfield six years ago. 
Mrs. King and her husband share six children, Kenneth Cook Jr., Marion Small, Jasmine Small, Duncan King Jr., Donte King and Derrick King.
“In 1990, I lost my oldest son, Erne Malone in a head-on collision,” Mrs. King said. “Nine months later I lost my daughter,LaKendria Cook, also in a car accident.”Daingerfield author releases second book a car accident. She was on her way to school, travelingwith two friends, when the car spun out of control and hit a tree. All three girls died on the scene. “Before their deaths, God had blessed me with two more children, Marion and Jasmine.” Mrs. King said her drug addiction was lengthy. “I was doing drugs and alcohol for 23 years,” she said. “I had just got tired and I asked the Lord to help me out of the addiction. He stepped in, sent my brothers to come and get me, and they took me to Dallas where I went into rehabilitation for six months. That is when the Lord took over my life. I have been clean for 16 years. Now I am an ordained evangelist and I travel.”
Mrs. King said her family moved to Daingerfield in 2008 where three of her siblings live.
