Opera House Theatr Players president Dorothy Craver has sold the first three donation tickets to the Players upcoming Labor Day weekend event, “Hoedown With Hank at Twin Oaks” to film actress Joanna Cassidy and her friend Laura as they visited in Jefferson recently. The two were intrigued by the idea of a community theatre group hosting a Lousiana Hayride-style evening of music, food and fun at the beautiful home of Alan and Martha Yarbrough and vowed to come back for the festivities scheduled for Sunday evening, Aug. 31, since both live currently in Louisiana.
Featured at thefund-raising party will be Jake Penrod who brings his remarkableinterpretation of the late great Hank Williams. Sr. to Jefferson audiences once again. Mr. Penrod, anative East Texan, plays and sings his own material as well. He played HankWilliams in an off-Broadway production of “Lost Highway” a few years back and continues to receive wide acclaim for his tribute show.
Also on the program to entertain is a recording newcomer, Sheila “Angeleyes” Clark a resident of nearby Caddo Lake who is just beginning her career in music and will be leaving for an European tour in 2015. Ms. Clark writes her own music and lyrics and will have CDs and DVDs out by Christmas this year.
Two talented brothers who have entertained at Players events in the past will be welcomed back to perform. They are Aston and Isaak Chance who happen to be the great-nephews of a Players board member. The two have played instruments together since early childhood and now as teenagers are in demand to play at churches, school functions, and other community events in East Texas throughout the year.
