Lee has a long and decorated career

A 1971 graduate of Daingerfield High School, AVCM (AW/MTS) Richard Lee Sr. served his countryin the United States Navyfor 26 years, achieving the highest rank of E-9 and receiving 39 medals and ribbons.
“I was going to electronic school in Dallas after high school graduation,” Mr. Lee said. “My cousin got drafted by the Army andsince we were close, I figured my number was going to be called. I thought if I was going to have to go in service, I wanted to go in the branch I chose.
“I was already defying law and order as instead of waiting on them to tell me where to go, chose where to go. I was already displaying leadership traits.” Mr. Lee began his service in 1972 when he attended Recruit Training Command (RTC) or boot camp in Orlando, Fla. at the Orlando Naval Training Center. After completion of basic training, he attended Naval Air Technical Training “A” School in Jacksonville, Fla.
After finishing the training school, he transferred to the Naval Air Station North Island or NAS North Island that is located at the north end of the CoronadoPeninsula on San Diego Bay and is the home port of several aircraft carriers of the United States Navy. It is part of the largest aerospace-industrial complex in the United States Navy, at Naval Base Coronado in San DiegoCounty, Calif.
