Bobby Joe Walker, 85, of Daingerfield, passed away Sept. 29, 2014 in his home. Mr. Walker was born Aug. 4, 1929 in DeKalb, Texas. 
His funeral was held Oct. 3 at Bates Family Funeral Home at 10 a.m. in DeKalb. Bro. Alben Walker and Bro. Lorean Byrd officiated.  He was buried in Woodmen Cemetry in DeKalb. Mr. Walker was a retired heavy equipment operator from Lone Star Steel, where he worked for 24 years. He was also a veteran of the United States Army, and a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church in Daingerfield. 
Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Nell Walker; six siblings; and a son-in-law, Jerry Jackson. 
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; David and Betty Walker if Genoa, Ark. and Joe Bob and Tina Walker of Daingerfield, Texas; three daughters and a son-in-law, Debra and Royce Hawkins of Genoa, Ark., Regina Jackson of Avery, Texas and Rene Shastid of Daingerfield, Texas; 23 grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
