A Pittsburg woman was arrested March 8 and charged with intoxication assault with a vehicle and an accident involving serious bodily injury or death, according to Morris County Sheriff’s Office records.
“Charloette Shirley, 46, was driving a 2004 GMC pickup eastbound when she veered off the road and hit Christopher Castleberry, 50, of Naples, who rolled between the two vehicles,” Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Shane Lawrence said. “The accident occurred Oct. 21, 2012. Mr. Castleberry had parked his 1999 SAAB 93S on the shoulder of the road when he was traveling eastbound into Daingerfield and was putting the top up on the car, which was a convertible. Ms. Shirley kept driving. She was intoxicated at the time of the crash and was located about six hours later.”
Trooper Lawrence said he had obtained a warrant for failure to stop and render aid, which is a felony.
Ms. Shirley was released March 8 on $10,000 surety bond.
