I was able to meet several people within the last week, that have inspired me to keep believing in humanity. Sometimes we lose faith in the human race, because of all of the negativity we see on a daily basis.
I was invited to the Daingerfield JUnior High School, where staff members celebrated a woman who rose above adversity, and was able to get her citizenship this month. Maria Rodriguez was so happy when she walked in the cafeteria that day. She had no idea that this surprise dinner party awaited her. Her eyes swelled with tears as she ran through a line of high fives and happy supporting faces. Maria's dream had come true. She spoke of how free she felt, and how wonderful it felt to be a citizen of the United States. She studied for months, and passed the citizenship test in Irving with flying colors. Her dream had come true, and she fought for her dream. She fought to overcome adveristy.
