A Patriot's Opinion

When did it become a bad thing to be proud of this country? I was very upset this past election cycle that out of all of the candidates running for national office, I only heard one person say that this was the “greatest nation on earth”. We used to use that term all the time when talking about the United States of America. If you listen to the president, he has said in numerous speeches that somehow we are responsible for the world’s problems, or that we have been selfish in thinking that we are better than other nations. He has repeatedly apologized for our arrogance, as he calls it. Well guess what? We are the greatest nation on earth. We have been blessed by God with technology that has brought us to the forefront in so many areas. We have also been blessed to live in a country where ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary things. But over the past decade or so we have been brainwashed into believing this dribble that somehow we are not better than anyone else. We are constantly told we cannot do certain things because it might offend someone. Well I just have one thing to say to that... tough toenails. The constitution’s first amendment gives us the right to free speech and also the right to freely exercise our religion, something else that we are told we can’t practice how we want. It does not say that all of our rights should be trampled on to accommodate others.

This country has a rich and proud history but we have seen our history books changed or parts of our history eliminated by those who wish to change how our children are educated. To forget your history is to rob one of the basis for who we are as a nation. The old saying that “You can’t know where you are going unless you know where you’ve been” is so true. We learn from our history. If we made mistakes we know to correct them, however if we did something extraordinary we should celebrate it by remembering it and teaching it to our kids.

Our military used to be the most respected in the world. Now our leaders have reduced our soldier’s numbers and given them rules of engagement that handicap them from doing their jobs.

Our immigration system is a total mess due to the liberal policies of basically allowing people to just come here illegally and set up shop with no punishment, and then give them all of the free stuff available. Australia has one of the best immigration systems of anyone. If they do not want you in their country they make you leave. They do not allow just anyone to come to their country and set up shop. And guess what, they don’t have an immigration problem. They have laws that they enforce. Gee we used to have those to. Our own veterans cannot get the help they so desperately need and yet we see illegal immigrants given carte blanche for simply arriving on our soil. This would never have been allowed to happen 25 years ago. So what has changed that allows travesties like this to continue? We as a people must take back the country that we were raised in and fight to return this nation to the status that it has always had, that of the greatest nation on earth, because it is. And that’s not bragging in any way. It’s just the facts.
