Jeremiaha Clark, a senior at Avinger High School, was c hosen to play in the 15th Texas Roundup All-Star game in Maypearl.

Avinger 24-A All-District Coaches’ Basketball selections were Coach Treston Dowell, Jeremiaha Clark, Chiam Loyd, Lake Loyd, Dillon Barton, Eric Green, James Baggett, Desmond Chism, Alex Perry and Antonio Neal.

Daingerfield powerlifters take Regionals. Winning were Chablis Barber, Adrianna Hill and TaChrissa  Boyd.

Military mom, Tiffany Anderson, surprised her children at school. Preston Anderson, 9, attends South Elementary School, while Katavia Grayer is a freshman at the Daingerfield High School. Sgt. 1st Class Anderson has been serving in the Army since 1996.

Lone Star Guns opened for business at 203 N. Main St. in Lone Star. The business owners are Mike Barrett and Jim Barrett.

Hughes Springs Solo & ensemble went to competition in White Oak and captured 53 medals. There were 49 students attending from sixth, seventh and eighth grade.

Daingerfield Senior Reyna Soto finished second in ankle taping competition at the Sports Medicine competition held at Stephen F. Austin State University.

Hughes Springs students qualifying for State in the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America group from Hughes Springs were Reagan Taylor, Scarlett Day-Aleman, Katharina Deitrich, Austin Calcote, Alisha Fields, Macy O’Dell, Anna Applin, Clara Morua, Kaycee Willis, Kayla Watkins, Jessica Modisette and Shelby Simpson.

Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Daingerfield reached its 165th anniversary. The church at 307 Broadnax was organized on March 11, 1849.

Nic Ayers and Tucker Bass of Daingerfield took second place in boys’ doubles in the Hughes Springs Classic. Leslie Bailey and Dustin Cofer captured the consolation bracket playing in their first tennis tournament.

Avinger’s Featured Business in March was Avinger Pizza. They were honored by the Avinger Area Chamber of Commerce on March 10.

 Hughes Springs’ second graders in Jennifer Bean’s class were anxious to tell the story about their project of putting eggs in an incubator, watching them hatch and caring for them after they were hatched. The hands-on experience was done in their classroom.
