Mustangs poised to take the diamond

Baseball is king in Hughes Springs. Ask a few folks around town and they will tell you, baseball is where they hang their hat, and this year is no different. From the t-ball players at 4 years of age to the seasoned veterans who are seniors this year, baseball is taught at a young age and it’s a tradition in Hughes Springs.
Just two years removed from a state-championship game, this year’s Mustang team looks to get back to Round Rock and not just knock on the door, but kick it in. Led by Coach Kent Craig, who, since arriving at Hughes Springs, sports a 61-7 record, the Hughes Springs program seems to reload, rather than re-build. Gone are Dylan Moore, and Chad McKinney, who are playing baseball on the next level. Moore, is playing at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the Ragin’ Cajuns, and McKinney is at Panola College. Both are following in the footsteps of their predecessors, as It seems every year, two or three players sign to play college ball.
