Barber takes 1st at Maud Power Lifting Meet

The Daingerfield-Lone Star High Tigers and Lady Tigers power lifting teams competed Feb. 21 at the Maud Invitational Meet. In the girls division, Chablis Barber won first place in the 132-pound class which lead her team to a 5th place finish overall. There were 19 schools competing. Gilmer won first, two points ahead of Queen City. Barber, who is ranked number one in the region in her weight class, registered a 320 lb. squat, 135 lb. bench press and 330 lb. dead lift for a combined 785 lbs. Barber finished 130 pounds ahead of the second-place finisher. Claudia Lopez won 3rd place in the 105-pound class with a 380 lb. combined lift. This included a 145 lb. squat, 75 lb. bench press and 160 lb. dead lift. Mya Cheatham’s 455 lbs. combined earned her 5th in the 114-pound class. Her individual lifts were squat- 170 lbs., bench-85 lbs. and a 200 lb. dead lift. Competing in the 148-pound class, Sarah Coleman won 6th place with a 590 lbs. combined lift. This included lifts of 260 lbs,100 lbs. and 230 lbs. in squat, bench pressand dead lift, respectively. Dmarkavia Palmer earned 2nd place in the 181-pound class. She registered a squat of 300 lbs., bench pressed 130 lbs, and had a 315 lb. dead lift for a combined 745 lbs. She missed first place by 20 pounds combined.
