April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

Child abuse is a problem that is prevalent everywhere. People tend to have a “small town” mentality that it cannot happen around them, especially not to someone they know.
April has been designated as National Child Abuse Prevention month, and local agencies have put together activities to raise awareness and help stop the pattern of abuse. According to CASA training coordinator Rita Floyd, 133 children were placed in foster care last year.
