Funeral services for Pauline Laverne Leach Hayes, 100 of Daingerfield were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16 at the First Baptist Church in Daingerfield with Bro. Don Ross officiating. Burial followed at 2:15 p.m. in Restlawn Memorial Park in Sulphur Springs. Arrangements were under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. Pauline was born in Sulphur Springs, TX on January 25, 1915 to the late James A. and Susan Anne Leach. She graduated Sulphur Springs High in 1933 and married Charles Maxie Hayes that same year where she made her home until moving to Daingerfield, TX in 1953. They were married for 70 years before Maxie’s death in 2004. She died May 12, shortly after her 100th birthday in Sugar Land, TX. Pauline was a devoted wife, mother, and lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Daingerfield where she enjoyed participating in the spiritual and social events and was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it. She was a loyal Daingerfield Tiger fan, attending every game whether near or far or wet or cold. Although the Tigers were special, she was a true blue Dallas Cowboy fan and she knew every screen and player moves. One of her fondest memories was touring the new ATT Cowboy Stadium and attending the Thanksgiving Day game. She enjoyed camping, fishing, wild game hunting, tending the vegetable garden and flowers, specially loving her roses. Pauline was a gracious hostess, accomplished cook, and talented seamstress.
