Richard Harold Andrews went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 18, following a lengthy illness. Services for Mr. Andrews of Ore City were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 22 at Cedar Springs Baptist Church, with Brother Kenneth Bowden officiating. Burial followed at Coffeeville Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City, followed by a Masonic Service.
Mr. Andrews was a devoted husband, father and grandfather whose life of faith was an inspiration to all. He was born July 31, 1933 to William Lee and Viola Andrews. He was a graduate of Diana High School and attended Texarkana College. He married Joye Reynolds March 10, 1952 and they shared their lives together for over 63 years. After working at Lone Star Steel, he began his career as a self-employed insurance agent and served his community proudly for over 55 years. He loved to hunt, fish and auto racing. He was an avid member of the Ore City Masonic Lodge #1364 where he served as Worshipful Master for many years. He was a dedicated member of Cedar Springs Baptist Church where he served for many years as Chairman of the Deacons, Adult Sunday School teacher and Choir Director.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clisto, Alton and William Lee Jr. and sisters Ruby Ratley and Lorene Sowell.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Joye Andrews and their children and spouses: Danny Andrews and wife Linda, Beverly Chisolm and husband Richard, Wanda (Poncy) Holly and husband Mike all of Ore City; eight grandchildren, Nikki Dent, Lyndsey, Ashley and Dani-Jo Andrews, Misty Lackey, Hollie McLeod, Kacie Burch and Dylan Holly. He was also blessed with 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, James C. Andrews and a sister, Grace McMullen and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Care Team Hospice, special thanks to Seth Yates, and caretakers, Laura Wilson Ross and Cyndi Andrews.
