Junior High places second in Foster Meet

The Daingerfield Junior High Math-Science team kicked-off the 2016 season by competing at the Foster Middle School meet held on Jan. 30. In the small school division, Queen City was first, Daingerfield second, Atlanta third, Hughes Springs fourth, Spring Hill fifth, and Ore City sixth.

Placing in the top ten in individual events were the following students. In eighth grade Number Sense, Victor Gonzalez placed fourth, and Justice Dorman placed fifth. In the seventh grade competition, Laura Carter placed second, and Riley Scholl placed fifth. In the sixth grade competition, Sanaa Fields placed third, Jaci Simmons placed ninth, and Haley Lewis placed tenth.

In the Calculator competition for eighth grade, Justice Dorman placed first, Victor Gonzalez placed second, Jamie Nix placed third, Ryan Lewis placed 6th, and Nakeisha Robinson placed tenth. For the seventh grade, Natalie Beasley placed second, Riley Scholl placed third, Ebony Chalk placed seventh, and Laura Carter placed tenth. For the sixth grade, Haley Lewis placed first, Sanaa Fields placed second, Jaci Simmons placed third, and Jazmin Mendez placed fourth.

In the General Math competition, eighth graders Justice Dorman and Victor Gonzalez placed first and fourth, respectively. For the seventh grade, Laura Carter placed fifth and Natalie Beasley placed eighth. In the sixth grade competition, Sanaa Fields placed fifth and Jazmin Mendez placed sixth.

In seventh grade Science, Laura Carter placed fourth and Sonny Wu placed sixth. For the sixth grade, Jaylon Evans placed third, Karmen Searcy placed fifth, and Sanaa Fields placed ninth. The Math and Science teams are coached by David Brotherton, Oslyn Lewis, Latoya Williams, and Pam Scheu.
