Funeral services for Roy Broussard, 84 of Daingerfield, were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday March 24, at the First Baptist Church with Bro. Don Ross and Bro. Rey Cuellar officiating. Burial followed in the Clark Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home.

Mr. Broussard passed away on Monday, March 21, in Longview, Texas. He was born in Abbeville, Louisiana on August 26, 1931 to the late Sidney Broussard and Agnes Vaughn Broussard. After graduation from Abbeville High School, he joined the Air Force during the Korean War where he served 4 years.

While in the service, he married Johneice Finley on December 19, 1953. After serving his country, they moved to Daingerfield and joined the First Baptist Church where he became a Deacon. He served in that capacity for over 60 years. He worked at Lone Star Steel for almost 40 years and retired in 1993 to work full time in his motor shop. He formerly served on the Daingerfield-Lone Star school board and was a member of the Iron Bluff Masonic Lodge and American Legion. He was also a board member of the Farm Service Agency. He taught Sunday school for many years and was a substitute teacher in his class until his last illness.

He loved his church and his family. He especially enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren and they will always remember the good times they had at Paw-Paw’s house. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister Myrtis Faulk.

He is survived by his wife Johneice Broussard of Daingerfield; children: Janet Floyd and husband John of Mount Pleasant , Ron Broussard and wife Sharon of Flower Mound, Randal Broussard of Daingerfield, Ellen Mabry and husband Mike of Longview; brothers John Broussard and wife Jean of Maurice, Louisiana., Elray Broussard and wife Lou of Luling, Louisiana., grandchildren Jeff Mott, Jennifer Daugherty and husband Jesse, Ryan Broussard, Reid Broussard and wife Rachel, Lauren Mabry, Nicholas Mabry, Jason Floyd and wife Misty and Ian Floyd, 6 Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
