NICHOLS
Rickey Lynn Nichols, age 65, met his Lord and Savior face to face on June 10.
Rickey is survived by his beautiful bride Beverly Nichols; his faithful children, Tammie and fiancée Jason Beasley, Matthew, and Mark Nichols, and his wife, Melissa; his adoring grandchildren, Eden, Elias, Ellie, and Evann Nichols; his loving mother Bobbie Riddle and her husband, Eddie Riddle; and Rickey’s siblings Jeannie Godwin, Carol Nichols, and Sondra Turner. He is preceded in death by his grandparents T.V. and Ivy Simpson; sister, Donna Brooks, and Frank and Mary Burson.
Rickey was born on March 18, 1951, in Hughes Springs to parents Charles Nichols and Bobbie Riddle. He graduated from Hughes Springs High School in 1970.
Rickey was a great family man and a loving father. He married his sweetheart Beverly Ann Burson on June 23, 1972 and the couple had three children together. Rickey retired from Hughes Springs ISD where he worked in the maintenance department and as a bus driver for 21 years. He treasured serving the students for all those years, especially as Mr. Rickey, the favorite bus driver.
Rickey was a social man who genuinely cared for others, modeled Godly generosity, and would tell the best stories with a glowing smile. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing, fishing, collecting, and meeting the needs of others. His family and friends will always remember him as a dependable, generous, and lovingwithout- conditions person.
A memorial is scheduled for Rickey Nichols on Saturday, June 18 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Hughes Springs, with a reception to follow. Larry Trevino will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Rickey’s life. The family would like to thank all who have visited, shared their condolences, and celebrated memories of our precious husband, father, Papa, son, and friend.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Rickey Nichols Memorial Fund at the Northeast Texas Credit Union; this will help his widow with the unexpected expenses incurred.
