During the summer activity program sponsored by the Friends of the Daingerfield Public Library, children have met a professional Yo-Yo artist, rescued animals from Zooniversity, and a balloon artist clown. On June 23, the experience was “hands-on” for those in attendance, as Rancho Condarca brought their petting zoo animals.

With two pens set up, 18 children at a time were able to enter and get to know some of Rancho Condarco’s animals. Children were able to brush goats, a donkey, a miniature horse, and pet a potbelly pig.

In the small animal pen, children held ducklings, chicks, and rabbits. Each child had the opportunity to go into both pens, and meet each of the different animals. Most children were amazed that the horse and donkey wore shoes, which helped keep them from sliding on the annex floor.

“We consider ourselves as ambassadors of the equine industry as many times we are the first pony that a child or even adults ever come in contact with. There is where our Mission Statement and Vision evolved from. We started the original concept of allowing interaction and direct contact with the ponies in a safe and personal interaction that promotes the love and proper care for our equine friends as our service difference for our customers,” said owner and manager Dianne Condarco.

Carndarco also stated that they are available for birthday parties, and do trick pony shows for city events, as well.

With over 100 children, and over 50 adults in attendance, this has been the best attended program of the summer, so far. Library Earline Walton reminds everyone that the library has story time each week at the library, which begins at 10 a.m. For the other learning activities available through the month of July, visit the library website, or check the Happening section in The Steel Country Bee.
