OWENS

Devoted wife, beloved mother and cherished grandmother, Betty Ruth (Lancaster) Owens, age 81, passed away at her home on Monday, Aug. 8, with her family by her side. Betty was born on June 14, 1935 to Lloyd and Cleo Lancaster.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Markie” Owens; her parents, Lloyd and Cleo Lancaster; her brother, Larnce Lancaster; and her sisters, Merline Barton and Juanita Gunn.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Deborah Vestal (Jessie) and Jackie Clark (Delwyn); her sons, Charles Owens (Rose) and Billy Don Owens; her grandchildren, Scott Qualls, Chance Clark (Tabitha), Tiffany Willis (Billy), Erica Sauceda, Andi Fox (Cory), Wanda Harrold, Waylan Vestal (Tawyna), Marcus Owens (Jacyln), Crystal Coker and Chris Owens. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren; her sister, Wilma “Dimple” Boyd; her special nephew, Valton Owens; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members who knew and loved her. Betty loved music and singing but her true passion was her family.

Visitation for Betty was held on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Hughes Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral Service were held at 2:00 p.m., following the visitation with Bro. Larry Neeley officiating. Interment followed at Hughes Springs City Cemetery where Betty was laid to rest beside her husband. On-line condolences may be left at www.meadowbrookfh.com.
