September 3 Senior Bingo

The Senior Citizen’s Center will host Bingo on the first Saturday of each month, starting Sept. 3. It will be held at the Senior Citizen’s Center in Daingerfield from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.

September 6, 13, 20, 27 Preschool Story Time

Preschool story time begins on September 6 at the Hughes Springs Area Public Library, and happens every Tuesday morning at 10:15 a.m. This FREE story time lasts about 45 minutes, and is open to all preschoolers age 3 and older.

September 10 Day of Wellness

The Woman’s Auxiliary of Northeast Texas District will host a “Day of Wellness” on Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Douglass Alumni Gym. The gym is located at 408 Terry Street in Pittsburg. Activities will begin at 9 a.m. and last throughout the morning. There is no cost for the event, and snacks, handouts, and freebies will be available. September 10 Electric Arc Furnace Reunion

Anyone who worked in the Electric Arc Furnace department at Lone Star Steel/U.S. Steel is invited to a reunion to be held on Sept. 10 at 12 p.m. The reunion will take place at Catfish Village located on Highway 155, north of Ore City.

September 10 Girls Scout Registration Rally

Girls interested in joining the Hughes Springs Girl Scout Troop 2245 are invited to a Registration Rally Saturday, Sept. 10, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Spring Park in Hughes Springs.

September 11 Woman’s Day

The Pine Bluff Missionary Baptist Church, located on Highway 250 between Marietta and Hughes Springs, will celebrate Woman’s Day on Sept. 11 at 3 p.m. Pastor David Early (son-in-law to the late A.O. Sasser) and the Calvary Hill Church from Dallas will be the special guest. Pastor Roy Miles cordially invites the public to attend.

September 11 Floyd Hill Homecoming

The annual Floyd Hill Homecoming will be held on Sunday, Sept. 11. The meeting will be held at the Red Hill Community Center, located at the intersection of State Highway 8 and FM 995. The president will give a devotional beginning at 11:30 a.m. with a covered dish luncheon to follow. The cemetery business meeting will be held after the lunch. September 17 Fish Fry

The church family at First Baptist Church in Cason invites the public to join them for a fish dinner on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. To go plates will be available. September 17 Avinger Wine Festival

Kick off autumn with a celebration of wine, food, art and music at the Avinger Wine Festival, Sep. 17, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Festival will feature over a dozen Texas wineries, mouth-watering food, artisan vendors and entertainment by local performers. Admission to the festival is free. The wine garden ($5 admission, 21 and over) will feature wine by the taste, glass or bottle. Stroll the beautiful grounds of one of Avinger’s historic homes and the surrounding property on the corner of Church & Pine Streets in downtown Avinger. Church on the Rock in Daingerfield invites the public to a “come and go” reception from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25 celebrating 25 years of God’s Grace. They also invite the public to join in a Celebration Service at 6 p.m. the same night.
