Cass County Court releases disposed August cases
Randal Lee, Criminal District Attorney, has released the following information on cases disposed of in the County Court of Cass County for the month of August, with Becky Wilbanks, as the Presiding Judge.
Jeremy Dylan Green, of Daingerfield, was sentenced to 30 days in county jail for theft of property, over $20, less than $500.
Benjamin Wade Smith, of Hughes Springs, was sentenced to 90 days in the county jail for failure to identify as a fugitive, and refusing to give information.
Khadijah Lashun Anderson, of Hughes Springs, was sentenced to 12 months deferred adjudication for possession of marijuana. Anderson was also ordered to pay a $500 fine and $297 in court costs, as well as 40 hours of community service, random alcohol and drug testing, and to complete a drug offender’s education program.
James Eric Fitzgerald, of Hughes Springs, was sentenced to 180 days, in county jail, probated for 12 months, and ordered to pay a $25 fine, as well as $232 in court costs for driving while license invalid with a previous conviction. Fitzgerald was also ordered to complete 40 hours of community service, random alcohol and drug testing, and had his driver’s license suspended for six months.
Matthew Austin Smith, of Daingerfield, was sentenced to 365 days in jail, probated for 12 months, for criminal mischief. He was also ordered to pay $250 fine, $232 in court costs, and $1,297.78 in restitution.
Brian Keith Griffin, of Lone Star, was sentenced to 12 months, probated 12 months, for driving while license invalid with a previous conviction. Griffin was also ordered to pay a $500 fine and $232 in court costs and complete 40 hours of community service.
Dennis Matthew Heller, of Hughes Springs, was sentenced to six months deferred adjudication, and to pay a $500 fine and court costs for possession of marijuana. Heller was also ordered to complete 40 hours of community service, random drug and alcohol testing, and to complete the drug offender’s education program.
Frederick L. Hopkins, of Hughes Springs, was sentenced to 365 days, probated 12 months, for assault causing bodily injury, family violence. Hopkins must also pay a $500 fine and court costs, as well as completing 40 hours of community service, random drug and alcohol testing, and the Batter’s Intervention Program. Hopkins must also pay $100 in restitution.
