Students experience active shooter drill

 Daingerfield-Lone Star ISD has added a new career and technology class to the curriculum. This year, students were able to take part in a Criminal Justice class as one of their electives. On Oct. 27, some of those students had the opportunity to take the role of law enforcement in an active shooter situation.

Eighteen students traveled from Daingerfield High School to the old Lone Star Elementary building, where they were given the opportunity to gear up and enter an active shooter situation in an attempt to secure and clear the building. The students used knowledge from their class as the basis for their attempt at securing the building. Accompanying the students from the school were instructor and D-LS ISD Police Chief T. J. Frazier and teacher Ben Ramirez.
