Math team places third in final 2016 meet

The Daingerfield Junior High math-science team recently competed in the Pine Tree Junior High Meet, held on Nov. 5. Daingerfield placed third in division. Spring Hill was first and Queen City finished second. Other schools competing in this division were Hughes Springs in fourth, Atlanta in fifth, Sabine in sixth, and Ore City in seventh.

Students placing in the top ten in individual events are as follows.

In the number sense competition for eighth grade, Natalie Beasley placed second, Laura Carter placed third, Riley Scholl placed sixth, and Ebony Chalk placed eighth. For seventh grade, Halley Lewis finished fourth, Jazmin Mendez finished sixth, and Sanaa Fields finished tenth. For the sixth grade, Kylah Haley finished ninth.

In the eighth grade calculator competition, Natalie Beasley finished second, Laura Carter finished fifth, and Riley Scholl finished ninth. For the seventh grade, Nam Vu finished first, followed by Jaci Simmons in second, Haley Lewis in fifth, Jazmin Mendez in seventh, and Sanaa Fields in eighth. Sixth graders Kylah Haley and Alexis Williams finished in fourth and eighth place, respectively.

In the general math competition, eighth grade had Laura Carter finishing first, Natalie Beasley finishing sixth, and Riley Scholl finishing eighth. Sanaa Fields finished in tenth for the seventh grade, and sixth grade had Kylah Haley in sixth, Alexis Williams in seventh, and Julian Taylor in tenth.

Riley Scholl finished fifth in eighth grade science, while seventh graders Sanaa Fields and Breana Williams finished in seventh and tenth, respectively. Sixth grader Kylah Haley finished in sixth place for the Tigers.

DJH math-science team members competing at Pine Tree were eighth graders Natalie Beasley, Neve Beasley, Laura Carter, Ebony Chalk, Cesar Lopez, Alivia Ragsdale, and Riley Scholl; seventh graders Julissa Chavez, Sanaa Fields, Sydney Key, Haley Lewis, Jazmin Mendez, Jaci Simmons, Nam Vu, and Breana Williams; and sixth graders Miguel Bello, Hailey Crews, Kami Driggers, Madison Greenlee, Kylah Haley, Sarah Meacham, Cody Miller, Corey Miller, Harley Scholl, and Alexis Williams.
