Lady Tigers have busy Thanksgiving week
While their classmates where beginning their Thanksgiving week break, the Daingerfield Lady Tigers were busy putting in work on the basketball court. Their “break” began with a tournament in New Diana.
The Lady Tigers went 2- 1 in the New Diana Basketball tournament Nov. 17-19. The ladies lost to Jefferson before defeating Ore City to make it to the consolation championship game. The ladies then defeated host New Diana, 50-42, for the Consolation Championship.
Daingerfield hosted Jefferson on Tuesday Nov. 22. The Junior Varsity lost 39-31 in a hard fought contest. Freshman TaQuasia Latchison had 11 points, four rebounds, and two steals; freshman Jamie Nix had seven points, four steals, and two rebounds; freshmen Tori Bennett had four points, nine rebounds, and two steals; Jahkayla Doddy had four points, two steals, and two rebounds. Sophomore Elasia Alexander added three points, while freshman Demontesia Hendrix added two points.
In the varsity match, Jefferson came out on top, 52-34. Freshman Mikayla Roberson led the Tigers with 12 points, three steals, and one assist. Sophomore Makayla Robinson had five points, three rebounds, and one block. Junior Kahleyia Johnson added four points, eight rebounds, two steals, and one block. Junior Dee Hall had four points, and seven rebounds; Junior Jasmine House had three points, eight rebounds, and one steal. Freshman Montrevia Durham added two points, four rebounds, and one steal; Monnorah Sok had two points; and freshman Tanacia Williams had two points, and one rebound. A tough second quarter proved to be too much for the Lady Tigers to overcome.
The Lady Tigers are 3 – 4 on the season. Next up for the Junior Varsity Lady Tigers will be the Big Sandy Tournament on December 1 through 3. Junior Varsity and Varsity will travel to Liberty-Eylau on December 6.
