Daingerfield lands several on All-District teams

Daingerfield High School’s football season may have ended in the first round of playoffs, but the accolades have continued coming for a team that many believed would lose more games than they won.

After posting a winning record in his first season at Daingerfield, Coach Mike Waldie and his staff were selected as the Staff of the Year for District 7AAA. Senior Markevian Grant was selected as co-most valuable player on offense, with Montrell Estell, from Hooks. Senior Cody Davis was the unanimous selection for most valuable player on the defensive line. All positions were voted on by the district coaches.

Being named to the First Team Defense were seniors Jordan Williams and Kieston Rushing and juniors Timmyon Broner and Tim Broner. Being named to the First Team Offense were seniors Rushing, and Dalton Morgan. They were joined by juniors Reggie Jeter and AJ Carroll, and sophomore Zachary Gilmore.

Senior Cedric Arthur was joined by juniors Jose Mendes, DK Lewis, and Trodarius Lynn on the Second Team Defense. Arthur was also named to the Second Team Offense, along with senior Roy Moss, juniors Mendes and Jose Bello, and sophomore Keilyn McCain.

Other Tigers earned Honorable Mention nods for other positions, as well. Senior Dalton Morgan received honorable mention recognition for his defensive end play, along with sophomore Tacodi Williams. Junior Tre Allen was recognized for his play at cornerback, and sophomore Jaqualine Evans earned an honorable mention nod for his play at outside linebacker.
