PATE
Services for Maxine Rhodes Pate, 90, of Longview were held in the Rosewood Park Mausoleum Chapel on Thursday, Dec.1, at 10 a.m. with Dr. Rick Webb officiating. Mrs. Pate passed away on Monday, Nov. 28, in Longview.
She graduated from Timpson High School in 1943 and worked as a bank teller. She married John Pate, the love of her life, and they were married for 63 years. During this time she was a homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper. She was active in the churches she attended. They lived in Center, Tulsa, OK., Daingerfield, and returned to Longview, when they retired. She was a member of Longview Missionary Baptist Church for several years.
Maxine loved crafts, sewing, decorating, baking and teaching others to do crafts. She also treasured time with her granddaughters and great grandchildren. She was known as “Gaggy” to them.
She is survived by her daughters Debbie Barthol of Hughes Springs, Janet Blake and husband John of Longview. She has two granddaughters, Brooke Dannelley and husband William, Brandi Smith and husband Nick, all of Hughes Springs. She has five great grandchildren Landon, Dawson, Tessa Dannelley, Tyler and Avery Smith. Also, she has two sisters-in-law LaWanda Heaberlin of Longview and Maxine Rhodes of Dallas, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband John Pate, parents Cecil and Gladys Rhodes; sister, Geraldine Haden; brother, Thomas Rhodes; and son-in-law, Dwaine Barthol.
The family especially thanks the staff at Buckner Westminster Place, Dr. James Sawyer and staff, and Care Team Hospice. They provided loving care and support for Maxine and her family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Buckner Westminster Place, 2201 Horseshoe Lane, Longview, TX 75605.
