The Illegal Immigration Debate is heating up again

Well, after 8 years of basically having no immigration policy whatsoever to speak of, the debate over what to do about the illegal immigration problem in this country is back on the front burner. Completely ignoring the problem as the current president has done has made the problem worse. There are an estimated 12 to 15 million illegal immigrants currently in the U.S. and the daily influx of 1,500 to 2,000 more every day is adding to the problem. Two of Donald Trump’s major campaign promises were building the wall and giving border patrol agents the tools to stop the influx of illegal immigrants.

Of course we still have cry baby whiners who say we should have open borders and allow any and all who wish to come here. That would be fine and dandy if they would follow our laws and assimilate into our society. Instead, they ignore our laws and the government not only allows it but encourages it. Our schools and hospitals are overwhelmed with non-citizens all across this country. And the American citizens are the ones being forced to foot the bill. I’ll never forget getting an itemized hospital bill one time and asking why everything was so high. The nice person at the hospital told me it was because we have to charge the people who can pay to cover the cost of the ones that can’t.

The problem used to just be on our southern border but now we are getting people from all over the world flooding into the United States. And tens of thousands of these people are being brought in by our own government. I’m talking about the influx of Syrian and other refugees. President Obama promised that the Syrian refugees would be vetted boasting about a two year screening process before they would be allowed entry. Well guess what? That didn’t happen. Refugees are being transported into the U.S. by the thousands and are being dropped shipped to cities all across the country. We don’t know these people from Adam and yet they are being placed in neighborhoods everywhere with little or no screening. Many of these so called innocent refugees are coming from Islamic countries with terrorist ties.

Of course Germany made the same mistake and now they are paying the price. They opened their borders to the Syrian refugees and now within the last 12 months their country is being destroyed. Germany’s chancellor Angela Merkel welcomed the refugees with open arms in the beginning. Recently she was forced to publicly admit that she had made a terrible mistake. Crime in her country has skyrocketed. Every part of Germany’s economy is suffering. Luckily we now have at least a small glimmer of hope that this mass invasion of our country will be severely curtailed or stopped. On the other hand if Hillary Clinton had been elected her only immigration policy would have been to basically do what Obama has been doing except at a much faster pace. We must stop believing that we can be the saviors of the world. There have always been poor people in the world, and there always will be. How do I know that? We have given $50 billion dollars to Africa over the last 30 years to fight poverty and hunger. And guess what? There are more poor and hungry people in Africa today than when we started. Simply ignoring illegal immigration and opening our borders to the world is and has been a disaster.

And our government has only made it worse with their lack of enforcement. Despite being told that only U.S. citizens can vote in our elections, millions of undocumented people have voted in our elections just this past year. As a matter of fact the president went on national television and told them it was their right. Just a few weeks ago a sheriff ’s dept in Colorado was fined by the Dept of Justice for (you’re not going to believe this) for not hiring non-citizens as deputies. It seems they had a policy that you had to be a citizen of the United States in order to apply for a law enforcement position. Well according to the administration that was unacceptable. Really? And don’t even get me started on healthcare benefits for non-citizens. We have veterans being denied services, many of whom are homeless but we have millions of non-citizens drawing benefits. Of course the president told us that was not happening either. These are just a few examples of how screwed up our system has become. When I was growing up we were taught that if you came to America you came here to become a citizen. Now thanks to our “progressive society” you can just come here and do what you wish, and the government will push you to the head of the line for all kinds of freebies. We have become weak as a nation when it comes to enforcing our borders.

We must regain the will and the ability to take care of our own citizens first before we grant special privileges to anyone else. And stop sending money to other countries when we have children right here who are starving and neglected.
