City, school elections set for May 6 election

DAINGERFIELD – May elections have been set for area municipalities and schools, as the Feb. 17 deadline to file for most elections have passed.

Daingerfield had three council positions up for election. Incumbent council members Mike Carter and Bob Thorne filed for re-election and are running unopposed, while council member Jesse Ayers decide to seek another team. Duane Grissett filed for Ayer’s seat.

According to City Secretary Heide Edmondson, all council positions are all “atlarge” positions, meaning there are no districts or precincts for each seat. She said the council election is canceled because there are only three candidates.
