James Thomas Connor
James Thomas Connor, Jr. was born June 9, 1940 in Dallas. He passed away at the age of 77 on Aug. 5 in Tyler. Jim or Jimmy, as his friends call him, was a life-long resident of Daingerfield. He attended Northwestern State University for two years, before being drafted by the Army. He served in the U.S. Army for 13 years as a helicopter pilot, and was awarded two Purple Hearts. He was a member of Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association and loved fishing, hunting and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas Connor, Sr. and Bessie Faye Abernathy Connor, and several aunts and uncles. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Pat Connor of Daingerfield; four children: James T. Connor III and wife, Anna of Florida, Debbie Fann of Daingerfield, Ryan Connor and wife, Penni of Hughes Springs, and Misty Brantley and husband, Mark of Hughes Springs; sisters Janet Zimmer and husband, Ronny, and Mary Jean Smith and husband, Paul, all of Daingerfield; grandchildren, Trevor Stoermer and wife, Kelly, Kaleigh Stoermer, Anthony Connor, Aleasha Fann, Kayla Fann, Jade Lewis and husband, Jessie, Kassity Connor, Holly Norris, Kristin Roberts and Kaitlin Brantley; and great-grandchildren, Kabreigh Sabato, Shelby Fann, Seth Scarborough, Treton Davidson and Peyton Davidson. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19 at Daingerfield Cemetery, with 11 a.m. services at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home.
