HBO show Vice News focuses on recovery following tragedy

DAINGERFIELD – As news came out about the church shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas on Nov. 5, people in Daingerfield were recalling their own experiences.

In June of 1980, churchgoers at Daingerfield’s First Baptist Church were startled by a shout of “This is war,” followed by gunshots. At the end of the incident, five people were dead, including seven-year old Gina Linam. Many more were injured, including the shooter, Alvin Lee King III, who was in custody.
