Election filing underway for upcoming 2018 election

DAINGERFIELD – Election filing is currently underway for several area offices for the upcoming 2018 General Election. Candidates wishing to run for office in the 2018 General Election have until Dec. 11 to file an application with their respective party chairs.

Candidates can announce their intention at any time, but must have the necessary paperwork filed with their party by the Dec. 11 deadline. Primary elections for each party will be held March 6, 2018. Early voting for the primaries will be from Feb. 20, 2018 through March 2, 2018. If a run-off is needed for the primary, that will be held May 22, 2018.

The General Election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018. Early voting will be from Oct. 22, 2018 through Nov. 2, 2018.
