Fire departments receive training

DAINGERFIELD – Fire departments depend on training situation to stay fresh on techniques, skills, and safety procedures. Unfortunately, many rural departments lack the funds and facilities in order to properly continue their training in real- life situations.
All fire departments in the Steel Country Bee reading area are volunteer departments. Their firefighters do not get paid, and they are not able to take part in large scale, real life training scenarios as many of the departments in larger areas can. Thanks to a member of the Daingerfield Volunteer Fire Department, the Daingerfield and Lone Star Departments had the opportunity to practice roof ventilation and entry techniques on an actual structure on May 22, without it be being engulfed.
