Williams sentenced on improper relationship between educator, student

A former Hughes Springs teacher was sentenced Feb. 11 to 10 years deferred adjudication on an improper relationship between an educator and a student, according to Cass County Criminal District Attorney Clint Allen.
Tammy Jo Williams, 34, of Omaha, was sentenced in the Fifth District Court of Cass County by Judge Ralph K. Burgess, Mr. Allen said.

Two-vehicle wreck

 

Leslie Griffin, 48, of Daingerfield, was traveling north on Linda Drive from Jones Shopping Center in

Daingerfield in this 2004 Buick when she failed to yield the right of way and struck a 2004 Toyota driven

by Shawn Baird, 31, who was traveling west on Watson Boulevard, according to Daingerfield Police

Chief Tracey Climer. The accident occurred on Jan. 23. Ms. Griffin was issued a citation for failure to

yield the right of way. There were no injuries reported.

Volunteer fire departments from Daingerfield, Hughes Springs, and Lone Star responded to

the blaze that consumed the residence. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
